This system does not require the entry of man unless for servicing needs; comprises of highly sophisticated laser guided machinery, which is controlled remotely from the outside machinery, allowing greater accuracy and efficiency for installing pipelines in various soil conditions.
Pipe Jacking Using Slurry System Method Overall View
Excavation is done mechanically and the solids are removed through the slurry system. The slurry shield machine and the pipe are advanced forward by powerful hydraulic jacks. The slurry is also burden pressurized to balance with cover burden pressure in order to minimize the risk of heave or settlement and allow to work below the water table without dewatering.
This method is usually applied to long distance. Too short length is not encouraged because of the high cost of the mobilization and the setting up of the jacking system.
